Volunteers
We depend on the dedication and support of our volunteer crew. Your time is critical to the Treks success, and means we can make the ride accessible to the wider community. We recognise volunteering as an opportunity for people to work together, share experiences and develop skills and confidence. Volunteering is also a terrific way to meet people, have fun and contribute to our community.

Catering
We have a professional caterer for the Trek. The catering team see sun rise as they prepare meals. Each morning participants make their own lunch to take with them on the trail. We need people to ensure this is set up from breakfast time by helping prepare sandwich fillings etc. Once everybody has made their own lunch you and your team will either travel by road to the next campsite or go out on to the route to manage the refreshment station. Skills required: catering expertise is not necessary, but a customer service background and the ability to work quickly and cheerfully is. Being an early riser is a big advantage!
Equipment
The Equipment team is led by Greg with over 10 years experience. Greg oversees the set up and shut down of each camp while ensuring it runs smoothly. The entourage includes a range of equipment, including marquees, showers, toilets, caravans, generators, pumps, and water tankers. The equipment team is a well oiled machine that assembles, transports and maintains all the equipment. If your arena is working with equipment and you are physically fit and loves a challenge, then this is where you can make the most impact.
Skills required: Ability to work as part of a team, mechanical, electrical, welding, plumbing, HT and similar skills are of great assistance, but not essential.
Information
Anyone who saw the movie The Concierge will be familiar with the demands of a job in Information. Trekkers who want to know who, when, where, what, etc come to you. The Information area is managed by Kitty and is the centre of the Trek that is always busy. Skills required: Curiosity and an ability to absorb information quickly under pressure, patience, and a liking for assisting people.
Marshals
Steve runs the Marshals team. Marshals are the eyes and ears of the Trek management, and the main support network for the bikers, riders and walkers .As a marshall you have a breakfast meeting with Steve to discuss the days route before taking a designated position either by 4wd, horse, mule, bike, motorbike etc. Marshal points are established every few kilometres or where required for safety along the route such as river crossings and busy road intersections. The first marshal is at the entrance of the camp to check participants out before travelling to the next camp to check participants in. Marshals provide information and support to trekkers and provide feedback to the Trek manager.
Skills required: You must enjoy people, and have an ability to think clearly in crisis situations and a knowledge of road safety. An understanding of maps and radio communications are important
Rubbish
Leaving a campsite clean and tidy ensures landholders towns will want us to return. Marcus runs the team that distributes garbage bags and bins, supervises recycling bins, and encourages participants to clean up their areas. Rubbish is moved from each campsite to the nearest refuse station
Skills required: Ability to work as a team, and to organise and encourage others. Willing to get your hands dirty.
Wranglers
Members of this team will be responsible for erecting the horse yards, managing the communal paddocks, helping with feed, water supply, and generally handling horses. Just as with the other teams they have to break camp and relocate to a new sometimes challenging location ready for the horses to arrive. The key issues are ensuring safe yarding and paddocking is available along with a good supply of water for all the horse areas.
Skills required: Moderate strength and fitness. Electric fencing and/or horse handling experience.
